Appropriated images of Film Noire scenes painted self portraits as characters along side the Great Sherlock Holmes actor Basil Rathbone: Watson, Irene Adler, Inspector Lestrade, various clients.  Inspired by Cindy Sherman's intimate examination of the stereotypes of women in society, the investigation continues. The ever unfolding mystique of 'Sherlock' portrays a re-invented moment created by my iPad camera, me in costume in front of a frozen screen 'still.' The series includes symbolic female imagery examination. Paintings are created on tar paper in oil pastel, oil paint and oil printing ink.  The tar paper adds a lively surface texture and offers a dialogue of golden hues.  The work started as a desire to be 'in' those old films after slow recovery from a brain injury.

All works on tar paper with oil pastel, oil stick, oil paint and have a 2" double mat.  Most are 14" x 17" original size.
